The Wall Street
Wall Street was the first permanent home of the New York Stock Exchange and over time, Wall Street became a shorthand for the 'influential financial interests of the American financial industry. There are several major US stock and other exchanges that remain headquartered on Wall street and in the Financial District.
Running east from Broadway to South Street on the East River through the historical center of the financial district, Wall Street derives its name from the fact that during the 17th Century, it formed the northern boundary of the New Amsterdam settlement and in the late 18th century, there was a buttonwood tree at the foot of Wall Street under which traders and speculator would gather and trade informally and because of this business atmosphere that the Wall Street epitomizes, it has become a setting for many movies that have the business setting and actually has a film with the title 'Wall Street' that exemplies many popular conceptions of Wall Street depicting a tale of shady corporate dealings and insider trading.
Wall Street has in fact become part of the world's global economic history!
